About the Business
I was born in the city of Worcester in 1965 which is where my fascination with the River Severn began. I spent my formative years either kayaking on or fishing in the river which had a huge influence on me and subsequently on my work. I am a self-taught artist and attribute the uncluttered style, colour and composition of my work to many years painting and drawing directly from life and learning to create impressions on site with a few brushes and a limited palette. After leaving school I spent twenty years in the printing industry before becoming a full-time artist.
Now, between commission work and teaching, I make weekly forays along the riverbank, looking for new challenges and creating intuitive paintings with ever increasing spontaneity. Included in these galleries are paintings and sketches, many of them created en plein air, which convey my passion for Britain's longest river. I hope you enjoy them and return to view new work as I continue my journey along the Severn.
