About the Business
Rivington Place, designed by David Adjaye OBE, is in the heart of Shoreditch, East London. This RIBA award-winning building is dedicated to the display, debate and reflection of global diversity issues in the contemporary visual arts. Rivington Place opened in 2007 and is the first new-build public gallery in London since the Hayward Gallery opened 40 years earlier. Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) and Autograph ABP. The building houses two major project spaces, an education space, and the Stuart Hall Library.
David Adjaye OBE is one of Britain's leading contemporary architects. Born in Tanzania, his influences range from African art and architecture to contemporary art and music. A Sowei mask from Sierra Leone was the inspiration for the unusual lattice pattern that articulates the exterior of Rivington Place.
